Help Overseas Military Families Save Money with your Expired Coupons!
If you are anything like me, you probably have to sort through your coupons regularly and toss out all of the ones that are expired. Wouldn’t it be nice if there was something useful you could do with those old coupons instead of just recycling them? As it turns out, there IS something you can do with them; and it’s something that can really make a difference!
In my wanderings through the blogosphere today, I came across a wonderful program called Coupons for Troops. Families living on U.S. military bases in foreign countries have access to a base commissary for purchasing groceries, however prices at these overseas commissaries are considerably higher than domestic prices. However, overseas commissaries will accept coupons up to six months past the expiration date!
For more information on how you can help, visit the blog of The Happy Housewife, who is the mastermind behind this great project. From there all you have to do is send her a quick e-mail telling her you would like to participate. She will pair you up with a specific family and provide you with their mailing address. Then you just stick your extra coupons in an envelope and ship them off directly to the family. (And even though they are overseas, since they will have a military mailing address, it costs the same as domestic shipping!)
Please spread the word about this great program! Tell your friends, collect coupons from members of your church, write a blog about it, and do whatever else you can!
