Finding good produce!

Shopping for produce can be a frustrating experience!  Prices are high, and all too often the quality is low (especially if things are out of season).  I hate going out and spending twice as much as I think would be a fair price for tomatoes, only to find them hard, dry, and bland.  It feels like such a waste of money!

To avoid these kinds of situations, educate yourself about produce!  Know what you are looking for, and know what features of that fruit or vegetable are indicators of its ripeness.  Equally important, know how to store your produce when you get home; you don’t want your week’s worth of veggies to be soggy and saggy in two days!

This article on eHow proved to be very useful:  How to Choose the Best Produce (and store it so it stays good longer).  It tells you how to select and store 15 common fruits and veggies!
